FROM MARCELLUS SHALE DEVELOPMENT
TARM started construction on its first recycle/reuse facility in October 2009. Construction was completed in March 2010. The facility received its permit from PADEP in March 2010. Water treatment started in April 2010. This operation is housed in a 70,000 s.f. building at Water Tower Square. The facility has nearly 2,000,000 gallons of storage capacity and can treat 400,000 gpd. The facility is set up for unloading and loading of water trucks in 30 minutes. Easy and quick access to the facility is gained via the Faxon interchange on I-180 in Williamsport. Deliveries are received 20 hours/day Monday – Friday and 24 hours/day on weekends.
Inbound water consists exclusively of flowback and produced waters from natural gas wells in the Marcellus Shale Play. Outbound water is treated to result in metals removal that meet industry and PADEP standards, and water quality for recycle/reuse applications. Outbound water quality when blended at the well site is Cl ≤ 30,000 mg/L, TDS ≤ 40,000 mg/L, Ba ≤ 10 mg/L, Sr ≤ 10 mg/L, and Mg ≤ 10 mg/L. Inbound water is processed at an established price per barrel. Outbound water is free to the client. Client outbound water use must equal or exceed inbound deliveries. Client water is segregated via individual storage units. Outbound water received by the client is the same water the client delivered to TARM. Contract quantity and duration are flexible. Outbound water quality could be adjusted based on client guidance. TARM works with each client to optimize treatment strategies in a way that supports well operations.
